Zac and Kev rumbled along the Route, eyes peeled for stray letters. There had been reports of a swarm of Unown in the area, and after his previous brushes with the aggressive alphabet it was time to get ahead of them.

"They're not gonna get the drop on us this time," Zac said, slapping Kev's heavy side. "And you know why?" The Steelix rumbled a 'No'. 

"Because we've got these," Zac said, and he pulled out a tray of muffins, tossing one to the giant companion.

The muffin splattered against the side of Kev's titanium jaw, leaving a smear of purple icing. Zac wiped it off and threw the cupcake away, unknowingly feeding a family of floating Munna and Musharna. 

"Not your cup of tea?" he asked with a laugh. "Don't worry mate, I've got some rock cakes too. Just wait until we get to the tunnel."

They rumbled closer to rock tunnel, Zac eating another muffin, and Kev uninterested in the treats.

There was no main road between Rustboro and the tunnel, but the area was popular enough as a hiking trail. The dirt paths were thin but well worn, cutting between overgrown shrubs and skirting around the huge pines that thrived in the silty soil. Kev's passage thickened the path considerably. 

Zac spotted an unusual flower, and he carefully removed a couple of seeds with tweezers, storing them in a little packet in his pocket. They would be sprouting by the time he got back home to the factory, and he could add them to his exotic garden. "They'll fit right in beside the ancient palms," Zac said to himself, grabbing a few more of the seeds just in case.

Something snuffled in the bushes. Something was bright yellow, beady eyed, and had no interest in Zac's Psychic muffins. 

The Drowzee sniffed at Kev, cocked its head, and then stumbled off to root through Zac's bag. "Hey! Get outta there!" Zac shouted, grabbing the bag. Drowzee frowned. "There isn't even anything worth eating, mate. I can guarantee." The Drowzee looked unconvinced. "You know what? Lead us to an Unown and you can have anything in the bag. Deal?"
